Homage to Truthiness by LoDuris Homage to Truthiness by LoDuris
I've been quiet for awhile and this is why. I have spent the last 8 months (almost) working in my spare time to create my largest origami portrait mosaic. The entire piece measures 87x58cm and is composed of 6,144 pieces of paper. Each piece of paper measured 2.5cm square. All in all I've estimated the total time spent on this to be about 220 hours based on prep work, average folding and assembly time.

Wow, it's great! :)
Can you tell me how to fold an origami mosaic? How to fold the units and connect them?

Thank you very much. I wish I could give you an explanation but it's rather long winded and no one has ever understood what I do unless I physically show them. even then most people just blinkk at me a few times before they get it :/ I don't think I'm very good at explaining myself :(

That is extremely impressive. With what you do with this, you could get serious recognition. That's awesome.

Ha ha ha thanks I appreciate the kind words. This is all done with origami using simple paper you buy at a craft store and sprayed with a lacquer to help protect it. I think anyone could do it if they just had the patience :)

Oh forgot to ask, How did you assemble it? It looks like some kind of tesselation. Also, who is this neat lad? :XD:
It's simply awesome, by the way.

Stephen Colbert (host of the Colbert Report) and in my opinion, the epicest American ever. :)

I honestly don't know what to say. It's brilliant. It's inspiring. It turned out incredibly and has been absolutely worth the eight month wait. I've been so intrigued this whole time, though I honestly had a pretty good idea what you were up to since you've mentioned it before, but even so...this turned out bigger and better and more magnificent than I had imagined. I hope he sees what you've created. It's your masterpiece so far.

Only suggestion? I don't feel the photo you've taken does it proper justice. We need to get this displayed and photographed just right. :D

He he he you're embarrassing me Penny:blush: Thank you so much for your praise! I always feel like I've done something truly amazing when I can wow you :) To be honest this thing turned out larger than I expected and I planned it all out lol. I agree though I do need to take a better picture and I'm planning on getting a friend of mine with a sweet camera to help me out by taking a picture of it as soon as I get it back from the framing place :D I'm hoping it will do it better justice!
